OpenFitness.net For Windows Mobile

We have been customizing and testing our online fitness software with Windows Mobile 6, and things are looking pretty good. The beta version of OpenFitness.net for smartphones pulls up nicely in Pocket IE, and we've trimmed down most of the screens to fit pretty well.

Testing has been done on Verizon's Samsung SCH i760, and what has been tested so far works great.

Open Fitness for iPhone - Beta

Announcing OpenFitness.net for iPhones...now you can log into your OpenFitness.net account from your iPhone!

We've been getting a lot of requests for this lately, and now a beta version of OpenFitness.net for mobile devices is available. This is beta, and at this point it has only been tested on device emulators...not actual mobile devices. However, in order to let everyone have an early look, we've made it available at http://www.openfitness.net/. Just click the 'Device Login' link on that page (if your device isn't automatically detected).

Your existing OpenFitness.net user ID and password should work. Personal trainers can log in too, but functionality for trainers hasn't been fully tested yet, so keep that in mind.

Not all features are available on the mobile version, due mainly to screen size limitations. However, most features are available, including the diet planner, workout planner, and progress reports.

Weightlifting Video Demos Added

I have just added weightlifting demos to most of the weightlifting exercises. This has been something I wanted to do from the beginning, but we originally went with illustrations, so all demos/illustrations can be shown on a workout all at once.

Now, whenever you select a weightlifting exercise, if there is video associated with it, you'll see a video link above the illustration!

OpenFitness.net Discount Now Available

We are happy to announce that users of our online fitness planning system, OpenFitness.net, can now purchase a subscription for the discounted price of 5.99 / month with a 1 year subscription. The option of a 7.99 / month quarterly subscription is still available, but we think most users will opt for the 5.99 /month yearly option.

Any users that are currently on the 7.99 / month plan and want to switch can do so by logging into their PayPal account, cancelling their current subscription, and then purchasing the 5.99 plan through their OpenFitness.net account. You may have to wait for your current subscription to expire before the 'Subscribe' link shows up in your OpenFitness.net account.

Also, many updates have been made since the last post to this blog. Most of these updates have been 'behind the scenes' things, like fixes to the message boards and other things that aren't really obvious or noteworthy.

We are also in the process of acquiring new exercise illustrations for use in the weightlifting section of the site. Even though we have the new illustrations, we are working through licensing issues before we can make them available to everyone.
